Using this concept as inspiration, I wanted to go through some current and historical drivers to see what their modes are. In this context, it's the position they finished most frequently during their career. For example, Jeff Gordon has finished first more frequently than any other position. Ward Burton has finished 8th more times than any other place. What could this data show us?
It's not surprising to see champions like DW, Johnson, Gordon, Stewart in the #1 mode group: one would expect that they finish first more often than any other place. But it *is* surprising to see Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle in that group. Is that a sign of championships to come?
What's ridiculous is the 30+ modes from Cope and Robby Gordon. That is just unspeakable. Embarrassing really. I mean even Kyle Petty sneaks by with a mode of 8 and Sterling Marlin with a 7. So anything above 30 is not getting it done.
